I am an infectious diseases doctor, epidemiologist, and medical educator, with more than 25 years of experience teaching clinical research methods. I majored in biology at Stanford University and received my medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine, followed by an internship and residency in categorical internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center. I then completed clinical and research fellowship training in infectious diseases at the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center and Duke University Medical Center respectively. In addition, I completed a health services research fellowship at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center and received an MPH degree in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health. I have held faculty positions at Duke University, Indiana University, Cornell University, Rowan University, and Case Western Reserve University.
